It's been a very rough week. Our dog, Maggie, got very, very sick to the point we thought we were going to lose her. But she's rallying and trying to get better every day. When I haven't been crying and staring at her, I've noticed:
See:
tigerlilies
the first fire fly of summer
a moth fluttering away from a delphinium after I brought it home from the nursery
a grid of seedlings sprouting in my bird garden
my best friend from high school, Linda, after she returned from a six month stint in Thailand
the way our dog Quentin closes his eyes and turns to face a breeze
Hear:
Ladyhawke
Phoenix
The Duchess & The Duke
my poor girl crying and whimpering
Taste:
7 year old cheddar, smoked gouda
beyond excellent bread made by my friend, Nancy, and her fledgling company, BREAD MATTERS- slathered with mayo, tomatoes and feta, guava paste or dipped in lemon chive oil
black plum sorbet from The Bent Spoon in Princeton
blue Hawaii colada
first French Breakfast radish plucked from our garden
curried tofu
cumin lime cod cooked en papillote
Feel:
guilt
hugs from people comforting me about Maggie
closing my eyes and feeling the breeze like Quentin does
itchy, sneezy allergy mess
drumstick allium beginning to bloom
Smell:
fish cooking
sauted onions
library books
roses
I so hope maggie is alright. i have been there, so i know this feeling. Feel better maggie.
