Today marks my fourth blogiversary. It just seems remarkable to me that I've stuck to it for so long.
This past year was great one for blogging. I feel like I really got my bearings. Over the winter, I found myself feeling desolate and dark, unsure how to proceed here and out in the real world. This community I find myself in here, reached out to me and helped light the way. People who extended their friendship and grace in so many varied ways to me this year like Joan, Darlene, M. Heart, Kristen, Denise, Susanna, Leonie, Caroline, Nicole, Shannon, Lisa, Jek, Marilyn really made this blogging year special for me.
I used to get hung up on the need to post as frequently as others. Be as creative or thought provoking. Now I am more comfortable just going at my own pace, realizing there is never enough time to do all the things I want to do. Picking and choosing becomes easier. Continuing to be here, at the Metaphorical Magpie, and amongst you is something I choose to do. Knowing it is a choice rather than an obligation somehow makes me feel less crazy. And aware of the honor it is to interact with you all here.
As I move into my fifth year of blogging, I hope for more of the community feeling I've enjoyed in this past year. I hope to meet more of you in real life - to hear your laughter and thoughts as they come to you before there is a chance to self edit at the keyboard. I hope we can band together to do some common good in the world. I hope to continue cheering for you and comforting you as you do the same for me. I hope the year is a long one, so I may savor each moment.
I hope you'll taste it with me.
Thank you for coming here this past year and years past. And for hopefully, continuing on for many years to come.
happy blogiversary :) i have really enjoyed 'meeting' you here and look forward to continuing to get to know you, much love, xo

Happy Blogoversary, Rachel! I'm so glad that I met you at Kristen's place and then again for our little film adventure. Time has flown by since then. We should figure out a date when we can meet up again.
